TRC History (The Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre)
The TRC was established in 1991 and gained charitable status in 1993.
We are the UK’s original charity dedicated to the welfare of ex-racehorses and regarded as the role model of racehorse rehabilitation.
In 2005 the TRC was able to purchase our own premises at Whinney Hill in Lancashire with income received from legacies and donations.
Owning our land and property instead of renting gives the TRC stability for the future.
We have 200 acres and our facilities include an indoor and outdoor school, an oval horse walker and a treatment and livery barn.
There is the still the potential for further development in the future subject to funding.
The patrons of the charity are Sir Peter O'Sullevan, Frankie Dettori, Louise Owen, Lord Oaksey, the Marquess of Zetland, Charles Lawson, Peter Humble, Anthony Head and Sarah Fisher.
