Dog Heroes, they risk their own lives to keep us safe!

A disease had broken out in Alaska and the medicine to treat it was 700 miles away (1,127 km).

The weather made it difficult to travel, so there was only one hope-sled dogs.

Twenty musher’s and their sled dog teams, including a heroic dog named Balto, raced across Alaska to save the town.
This rescue made the animals famous. However they soon had an even more exciting job-racing.
